Project: Color Projector Lamp

Description: The Color Projector Lamp is a hands-on project that blends engineering, art, and color theory, allowing builders to construct a functional projector lamp that brings dynamic, shifting colors to life. By wiring a motor and assembling a mechanical rocker system, users can move liquid color discs—filled with colored water and mineral oil—back and forth, casting soothing, ever-changing projections onto walls. Designed for ages 9 and up, this project not only results in a unique piece of room decor but also introduces mechanical motion and subtractive color mixing in an engaging, interactive way.

As the lead developer, I oversaw extensive user testing and physical prototyping to refine the mechanics, materials, and experience of the Color Projector Lamp. Through iterative design, I ensured that the assembly process was intuitive, the motion was smooth, and the final projection was visually captivating—making this a product that is both fun to build and rewarding to use.

The Color Projector Lamp has received a 5-star rating from users and is currently available for sale at KiwiCo, where it continues to inspire young builders and creative minds.
