Microbiome Photo Booth: Cells to Self, Exploratorium

Project: Cells to Self, Exploratorium

Role: Lead Exhibit Developer

Team: Chris Cerrito, Paul Hayes, Joyce Ma

Description: The Microbiome Photo Booth is an interactive exhibit that allows visitors to explore the microflora and fauna living on their skin. After taking a snapshot, visitors are guided through a series of interactive screens that reveal the diverse organisms inhabiting different facial regions. Using facial mapping technology, the exhibit identifies specific zones and provides insights into the unique microbial ecosystems present on the skin. For those who want to explore further, a touchscreen interface allows visitors to take a deeper dive into specific species, offering a closer look at the microscopic world that lives with them every day. This blend of technology and discovery turns an invisible world into an engaging, personalized experience.
